Inaugural Play Fore Hudd Golf Fundraiser

On behalf of our son Tanner Huddleston (better known to his friends and players as Coach Hudd), I would like to thank you for your considersation in participating in or donating to the Inaugural Play Fore Hudd Golf Fundraiser.  On January 12, 2016, Tanner received a diagnosis that no one dreams of getting, he has Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). However, the journey began 5 days earlier, when his girlfriend's dad Dr. Bradshaw noticed that Tanner's complextion was a bit off.  Thinking Tanner may be anemic, he asked Tanner to come up to the hospital the next day for some tests.  Tanner and I (Wade Huddleston) went up to the hospital, his tests were run, his white cell count was low, and he was told he would have results in a few days.  Fast forward 5 hours, Tanner was in the emergency room!  He received a call from Dr. Bradshaw telling him he needed to go straight to the the E.R. at OU Medical Center as the pathologist report indicated leukemia.  Tuesday the 12th he began his journey of Chemo and his road to beating cancer.  The cancer returned in April of 2017, nearly 1 year after he had been placed in remission.  This led to next step of his journey, the need for a bone marrow transplant.  More chemo, full body radiation, and then his transplant.  Tanner has once again been in remission for over 2 years.  He has been coaching, taking online (and now on campus) classes at UCO.  Tanner is studying English and secondary education.  He plans to continue coaching baseball and teach high school English. One of the side effects of AML and a bone marrow transplant is a compromised immune system.  Due to this effect, Tanner has also been able to return to his job at Dick's Sporting Goods Store.  In addition, Tanner is completing his student teaching requirement this Fall Semester.  Our fundraising event is to bring awareness about AML, the importance of donating blood, signing up to be a bone marrow donor and finally to help Tanner with medical and presciption costs not covered by insurance and help with his college expenses.
